I have a 40+ year old 5 qt. With bowl lift. I paid $299 for it. I mix rye breads, w/w bread and sourdough bread. I mix with no more than 5 cups of flour. I also use a variety of attachments. This is tough mixer and has had no problems with it.
Does the new “S” hook for bread fit these old mixers?

if the attachment fits the bowl it will fit the machine.
you probably need this one,

I was gifted the professional sized KitchenAid mixer and it has been great! Zero problems other than I lost the bauble that goes on the on/off switch which makes it hard to adjust the speed on the fly.
but...
I was also gifted a vintage cabinet full of all the attachments that still fit the Artisan sized KitchenAid. As soon as I can get my hands on the artisan sized KitchenAid I will put these vintage attachments to good use. I find that there are many more attachments made for that size than the professional one.
