If this 10 year old thread has not closed, let me re-activate it. I have a Russell Hobbs Compact (my second) which I use to make a loaf every week. Since I'm only catering for myself, one medium loaf a week is plenty although, for the second half of the week, it needs to be kept in the fridge. It has never failed me and I am a solid fan except for one niggle. The hole in the bottom of the loaf really annoys me. I've tried everything and cannot permanently prevent it although occasionally the paddle releases from the drive spigot and stays in the loaf. It's easy to just slice around it. I'm very surprised that only one of the earlier replies mentions this (from mj512). Perhaps other machines use a different system but this is the only one I know.
