Cake problems at bakery.

Hello. I work at a busy bakery. We have had a problem this past week with our vanilla cake smelling/tasting fishy. All ingredients are in date. I have noticed we started leaving out a case of eggs in the morning so that when we separate the yolks from the whites they won't be so cold on our hands. Do you think that would be the cause?

no, doubt it.
Try smelling the cake molds, the pan grease or spray.
but, if you're busy why not just buy liquid yolks and frozen whites in 4 lb cartons.
