What are some "starter" decorating supplies?

I have two very special little girls, whose birthday is almost here. This year, I am going to do a "cupcake cake". Im going to make tons of little pink cupcakes and shape them to appear to be a dress. I am in need of decorating supplies. What are some starter things I need?

i'm gonna tell you what i used to make the cup cakes in my avatar picture . . .

food dye or food coloring (red - yellow - blue ; you can mix and make other colors)
you'll need icing cone(bag) and icing tip , try buying big icing tips it makes your job easier and faster . . .
sprinkles ; they make a world of difference in your cupcake's visuals and there is a million shapes of them
and frosting of course . . .
electric mixer for the frosting . . .

for anything else you can use your normal kitchen stuff . . .
