Looking Back at Classic Bakery Packaging Then vs. Now

Lately, I’ve been reminiscing about how bakery packaging has evolved over the years. Back when I was learning the ropes in a bakery, everything was pretty simple brown paper bags, plain boxes and wax paper wraps. But now, packaging has become such an essential part of the experience, not just for keeping products fresh but also for branding and presentation.

I recently came across some retail bakery boxes that reminded me how far things have come. The designs are more functional, eco-friendly, and visually appealing. If you’re curious, here’s an example of what I mean: Retail Bakery Boxes.

What do you all think? Do you prefer the old-school packaging or do you like the modern touch? Would love to hear your thoughts!

Brown bags are for hardware stores selling nuts and bolts.
Food should go in white bags at a minimum.
Handiwaks are still the standard tissue for retail bakery sales that go in a bag.

For higher priced items such as truffles I prefer gold window boxes and rainbow cellophane sheets. 25c box, 5c cellophane and 10c custom sticker.
Cost .40c

Box is 4x4x2.5 inch. $24 per 100 boxes. amazon.
I prepack with $20 of chocs, don't let customers choose their own packaging or they will want a $2 cookie in a box and that will kill you in packaging cost.

$20 of product in a 40 cent box is less than 3% packaging cost, thats ideal, right where it should be.
