How do you make bread?

Yes, im sure this sounds unreasonable. However, i am considered a beginning, and the best thing I make come out of a box that contains directions. I am learning though, so bare with me! How can I make a standard loaf of bread? I will be using as a side with soup for tomorrow nights dinner .
