Ok, just for fun..........here are some lessons about baking and some history of the foods we love today.

Ok, the first one is for fun, as it is WAY out of date....LOL

I'll have to watch these when I'm on my laptop - I just had a spare moment while I was out and I'm on my cell phone right now! But I'm excited to watch the videos and learn a bit more - I'm a history nerd so that's fun!

Those are interesting. I am especially interested in the history of the biscuit because we call them hard cookies around where I live. I would assume they are something like a shortbread cookie that was eaten by the peasants?

Such a nice topic. I like the history part better. I have already seen these videos before I believe but nevertheless it is so much fun watching this. I was wandering if someone can tell a story about something they heard from their grandparents or just a part of their country's folklore. There is a panada like thing in Serbia that is called popara. Basically it is a bread based porridge. It was the cheapest way to eat and hundred years ago it was the most important meal or the only meal. Likewise, in world wars when food was nowhere to find corn meal and corn bread was the only food available for soldiers.

Thanks Chester, as usual a very interesting and fun post! I'm always eager to learn more about history, specially baking & food :) I need to learn so much! I will check them all once I have the chance (getting ready to go to a doctor appointment in a bit - Gosh, I dread those so much, really hate it lately!).

Well, I have looked and looked, but have not been able to find any videos on American Indian baking or any videos on how American Indians baked/cooked the earliest cornbread.

I did find, however.......this fun little tidbit.........

No, it's not specifically a baking video, but the English Tea gave way to a concourse of baking varieties and outlets for baked goods.

Mmmm I do love afternoon tea! :D

I'm off to Royal Ascot (it's a horse racing event) this year, and we'll be getting afternoon tea there. It will be very posh!
