Help with German Strawberry Tart Recipe

Hi All,

My partner is German and I have agreed to back his favorite cake for his birthday. He has however, been very vague about what this cake is and I cannot find anything similar on the internet.'

This is the pic he supplied me.

He then showed me this:

So its like a strawberry tart with cherry jelly filling between the strawberries on top but what is throwing me off is the white icing around the base. He said it was a "vanilla pudding" like "vanilla Custard"... so its not meringue and I'm completely confused as to what it could be?

Does anyone have any ideas?

Honestly it looks like plain vanilla icing to me, doesn't look like custard to me at all, you can't spread custard on a tart just like that and then get a very smooth look. It ought to be icing, I'm almost certain...

I think it's just an icing or maybe a frosting. I would just go with plain white icing.

Yeah I was going to try a vanilla icing too.. Too bad if that's not right because that's what he is getting
