With the popularity of the food network and now the travel channel has also gotten into some fun cooking shows I was wondering who your favorite television cook is? I really love Rachael Ray's fun, light hearted personality as well as her easy thirty minute meal recipes!

Alton Brown is my favorite, though his is more about instruction then new recipes. I like how he focuses on just one ingredient or dish and explains the science behind cooking it.

Alton Brown's my favorite, too! I like his sense of humor. When he does explain the science that goes into something he also keeps it pretty light and entertaining, which is great. I'm also a fan of Lidia Bastianich just because I adore Italian food and she has such a nice air about her.

Alton Brown is great, too bad his show got cancelled. He just makes things so entertaining and easy to follow along with and try to make yourself. Not sure if he counts but I would have to say Gordon Ramsay. He is just so entertaining to watch, and his insults are hilarious. Doesn't sound nice laughing at other peoples misfortune but usually they deserve it. Working in a kitchen isn't easy.

It is a shame. I really liked his show, too.

Ramsay can be a pretty cool guy when he's not blowing his top over something or other. Then again, we all know people don't watch his shows for his ability to stay calm, now do we?

I know Gordon Ramsay can be pathetic in so many ways but I really don't care, I believe it's just how he projects on TV especially in Hell's Kitchen where he just like to blow his horn all the time and swears whenever he likes. But in Ramsay's Ultimate Cookery show, I believe he'd show subtlety on this show. That's why I like him, coz he's so versatile in so many ways and he makes cooking very exciting with his presence.

I love Rachel Ray too but I miss the days of her $40 Dollars a Day show! I'm not sure if that's what it was called but she would travel to different towns in the U.S. (I think she did a few international places as well) and eat three meals a day for under forty bucks. It was such an awesome show! They still play reruns sometimes. As far as cooking goes, I love Giada! That woman is fabulous.

The Pioneer Lady is my favorite right now. Her life looks so fun, and I would live to have her kitchen. I am also a big fan of Paula Dean, but I would weigh 500 pounds if I ate her cooking all of the time.

I'm a fan of Rachel Ray as well, her personality translates very well to tv and she doesn't end up coming off as full of herself as way too many TV cooks do these days.

I really like watching Heston Blumenthal. He comes off as very hilarious and geeky, and his explanations are always scientific and logical. I also like how they show his failures on his show and his thought process of fixing those mistakes.

In the UK for baking Mary Berry is a judge on 'The Great British Bake Off,' and she is wonderful with tips on baking and her shortcuts. Another is Delia Smith who makes baking look so easy and her recipes are easy to follow.

Raymond Blanc does some nice desserts, but his recipes can be quite detailed and look a bit tricky, but htey do inspire me.

Emerald has been my favorite for 10 years. I haven't had TV to watch him for about 7 years, but when I had it in high school, his was my favorite show.

I was a fan of Ramsay before I figured out he was the Simon Cowell of Reality TV Food Chefs.

I always go back to Alton. He's not only like the Bill Nye of Cooking, he's very informative and easy to follow. Which makes him universally loved by the kids and elderly as well.

After watching Blumenthal's Mousse video though, he's a definite second.

We have a local chef called Chef Edey that I used to watch a lot. He was a very ordinary guy in his approach to cooking and I loved that. I just felt like he liked to cook with too much butter. I don't watch local TV very often so I hardly get to see him anymore. On the international scene I stumbled on a Bobby Flay I think his name is and I liked something about him but I don't search him out. It's just a name that stuck and I liked the shows where I saw him.

So he was like Paula Deen, eh? Lol. I guess it'd be easier to watch someone with a laid back approach too.

Good names folks, giving me some quality things to look up.
