It calls for their weight of pounded sugar, flour, and butter.
4 eggs whisked
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 buttered and floured 8" cake pans
Bake at 350 degrees for 15 min.
When cooled place jam or.marmalade in between the 2 layers.

What does "their weight" mean?

Well, I did some quick online research, but didn't find anything really. The only thing I found was a similar recipe for a quarter pound each of flour, sugar, and butter.

So, I imagine that this recipe is for a heavy cake, with one pound each of flour, sugar, and butter.

Welcome to the forum Marji!

I've seen old recipes in the past where you weigh the eggs in their shells and use the same amount of sugar, flour and butter. I think that may be what is referred to in your recipe :)
