Can I mix gel color and a small amount of traditional food coloring to color store bought frosting?

What do you mean "gel color"?

If you are mixing ready to use colored gel, you CAN mix it with frosting, but it won't color the frosting.

If you are talking about liquid gel food coloring, then yes, you can mix that with frosting.

Why don't you just use standard food coloring? Why the additional gel??
