Best recipe for Hard Tack candy?

Hello everyone,

I remember very fondly as a child making hard tack candy with my grandmother. I have her recipe but I am always looking to try new options. Anyone have any good recipes they would like to share with me/us?

My grandmother used to make that kind of candy herself, sadly the recipe she used died with her She used all sorts of crazy colors tho My favorite ones were the purple and white.

I can understand about recipes that die along with grandparents. I always asked her to make me more cookbooks but she had a problem since it was always "eyeballed." We used to make all kinds of colors since she was an art teacher in her younger years. The colors that were always my favorite were the green and purple ones. yummy!
