This is my basic loaf of white bread. I figured the recipe might be of some use to someone.
450gr strong flour
1 sachet of instant yeast (7 grams)
Tbs sugar
Tsp salt
Small knob of butter
290ml of tepid water
I simply put all the ingredients into the bowl of the mixer and let the machine do its thing for a few minutes. You can knead by hand as well, but it will take longer.
Leave to proof for an hour or two (depending on how warm the room is) until roughly doubled in size.
Knock back, knead for a few seconds then put in greased 1lb loaf tin.
Leave again until doubled. Bake in preheated oven at gas mark 7/220 C/425 F for 35 minutes.
Take loaf out of the tin straight away, or the crust will get soggy.
