The Holiday Season is all about mixing the traditional with the exceptional, the classic with the unique, and the good with the better. I've been looking at recipes, especially those that take a new look at an old favorite, and have compiled a list of "must bakes" for the 2014 holiday season.
1) Ginger Bread and Molasses Cookie Bars. They are flat, dense, and fudgy. They also combined two holiday favorites, one current and one forgotten into an unforgettably good mix. Serve with mint-hot chocolate and you've got a good dessert for a cold night.

2) Peppermint Stick Brownies. A creamy, dense (I really like dense desserts-desserts are meant to be indulgent, right?) peppermint-flavor cheesecake layer adds holiday happiness to an old favorite.

3) Brownie and Trix Trifle. Brownies...carmel...twix...cool whip, already sounds like the best, right? Not to mention, they are super simple to make and, if you want/need a quick dessert buy store bought brownies (I won't tell if you don't!).

4) Peppermint Cheesecake Dip. A new take on appetizers, right? A very, very sweet take. Pair with chocolate graham crackers, gingerbread, and chocolate candies and brownie bites for a sweet, refreshing, minty taste.
